• ‘Help me!’ calling - Direct access via your TomTom to numerous safety and information numbers,
• Exchange locations via SMS - To navigate to friends or colleagues more efficiently, simply send your current position
• POI Calling - Call Points of Interest with phone details direct from your TomTom, such as hotels and restaurants.
• Spoken Street Names - Spoken instructions include street names to make turns even clearer. The 950 also reads out text messages.

The GO 950 comes with an active dock making recharging much simpler, as well a providing a very sturdy method of attachment to the windscreen. The GO 950 also boasts the new Eco Routes software on some maps, allowing the user to factor fuel consumption in to the route planning.

According to Ross Catanzariti (Good Gear Guide),

"There are more than 140 commands available; in addition to navigating to an address you can also avoid a roadblock, zoom in and out of the map, increase the volume, read traffic info aloud and add a location to your favourites. The voice command function is available by tapping the large microphone button on the home screen. Simply tap the button, say a command and the GO 950 will react."

The TomTom 950 also has an improved inbuilt speaker, so instructions come out more clearly. The user interface has been upgraded; the map range broadened; and it takes less time to calculate routes due to faster operating speeds.
